My main area of work has been ceramics since 1995. I was first introduced to salt firing and atmospheric firing in 1997. I was hooked ever since that day. Not necessarily one way of firing but the expressive effects that those types of firings could provide.
My work has changed over the years and while I still love functional pottery I have been drawn to exploring more expressive surfaces and forms that push the tactile and visceral nature of this material. It's why I have always preferred to use the term "ceramics" because of my interest in the material.
I am definitely in a time of transition. I have started to explore more and try and worry less. To be driven by the core ideas that have stuck with me for so long. I don't have it all figured out but I am trying to balance the many aspects of my nature and have that come forward in my work.
